Friday afternoon after picking up Daddy from work, we headed down to Pine Mountain Lake. We met up with our realtor and she gave us the keys to her cabin that we were staying at for the weekend. Our friend, Mike, met us up there as he was checking out some properties on Saturday so he crashed with us Friday night.
Friday night brought some fun mountain times... after picking up pizza from the local pizzeria (which is delicious!!), we headed back to the cabin to eat. Just as we were finishing up our dinner, around 6’ish, the electricity went out. The people are so awesome around there that a neighbor next door brought by a bag of candles, a lighter, and a flashlight to help us through the darkness. Fortunately, the cabin had a propane gas stove that heats the place so we definitely didn’t get cold. We just hung out in the front room and the girls were having a blast crawling around in the dark, wrestling with each other, and going off backwards of the recliner chair that Daddy was relaxing on. The electricity finally turned on at about 9 pm.
Saturday morning we headed off to Yosemite. We were going to go all the way to the valley but decided to check out Tuolomne Grove first (one of the three sites in Yosemite that has the Giant Sequoias). We hiked one mile down hill to see these large trees and one mile back up-hill to eat some lunch in the car. Mikayla was truly a trooper. Except for the beginning of the hike, she walked the whole way. She was a little freaked out when she saw fallen trees - afraid she would fall like them. Delilah was another story. She was a little princess that didn’t want to walk, and when she did, she whined a lot! After we finished the walk, we ate our picnic in the car and headed back to the cabin. We stopped off at the lake to let the girls play at the playground and then headed back to the cabin for some spaghetti. The girls were so exhausted that they were in bed and asleep at 7:29 pm!
Sunday morning we went for a hike around the neighborhood and then packed up to head home in the afternoon. We were going to stay another day, however, we had received a phone call from our neighbors that there was a bad accident about 1/2 a mile from our house and our cameras may have caught some pre-accident events that led up to it and the CHP wants to talk to us. As soon as we got home, we checked the video and sure did catch something. We can’t go into details as there is still investigations going on regarding the accident... but it is very sad all around!
We will update you as soon as it is out on the news. But till then, we are kind of keeping it hush hush.
