Mikayla and Delilah Turn 9

Wow! Who knew how fast 9 years could go by.  It seems like just yesterday these two little girls were fighting for their life in the NICU.  Now we are celebrating their 9th birthday and all the marvelous memories they have created in our lives.  Every other year is a birthday party - since they had a birthday party last year, this year is the family trip.

We didn't do a "family trip" in January as it is scheduled for later this year - but they were told of the destination - Hawaii!  Sadly, only 2/3 of the girls were excited to hear about the exciting trip.  The third one - our worry wart - turned herself into an ostrich and stuck her head into the couch for a good three minutes (literally).  I finally asked Mikayla why she isn't excited to go to Hawaii and she states "I hope we don't have to go deep sea diving!"  Really?  Where did that come from?  No one in this house has ever shown interest in wanting to go deep sea diving.  Our child just tries to find things to worry about. Needless to say, she is finally getting excited for Hawaii especially after seeing pictures of the volcanoes and rain forests.

So on their birthday, their besties came over to have dinner and cake with them.  It was an Angry Bird year - between hats that their cousins gave them, shirts that their daddy gave them and the cake - they loved their Angry Birds!!

Delilah and Mikayla - this is what 9 years of blessings look like

The fabulous five

The weekend after their birthday, we did take them to a hotel to swim and hang out with friends.  They enjoyed relaxing in the hotel bed, watching DVDs with their buddies.  Delilah's eyes were very very irritated by the chlorine of the pool.

They were knocked out quickly after swimming and movies.

What a wonderful birthday - next year will be double digits - AAAAHH!!
