Halloween 2008

Halloween was a blast this year... even with the rain pouring down, it stopped just enough in the evening so that the girls could go trick-or-treating. This year, we stayed in our neighborhood and it felt like Halloween. The streets were full of children running from house to house with their trick-or-treat bags and parents with their flashlights. The yards had leaves covering them and the houses were lit up with jack-o-lanterns. We loved it!! After going up a street or two, we headed to our church where they had Trunk or Treat but the rain cut that short.

While the girls were at preschool, Caitlin and Popcorn had their usual playtime.
When the girls came home from preschool, they had "Hand" sandwiches.

Trick AND Treat

Today was a fun-filled day for the girls. In the early afternoon, they got to carve and de-gut their pumpkins (which we made pumpkins seeds for the first time with!!) Yum Yum Yum. Pictures of their final products will be posted on the Halloween blog. Later that evening, the girls were tricked (surprised) with a special "treat". Read on to see....

So this evening, Michael came home in the pouring rain, the girls were already showered and dressed (as I knew we would be home late) and we loaded up in the car for a fun excursion. The girls had no idea where we were going. We pulled up into the parking lot of Arco Arena and unloaded out of the car. The girls heard a man say, look at those princesses (talking about ours, of course) :-) Then Delilah heard a man telling his daughter something about Disney. She goes to Daddy "Silly man, this isn't Disneyland". Little did she know we were getting ready to watch Disney on Ice! When we finally walked through the doors of the arena, Disney music was playing and they saw all the souvenirs you could buy. They figured it out!!! They were ecstatic. So into the luxury suite we went (thank you Craigslist). Those are the best things especially with young children because they have their own bathrooms.
Mikayla and Delilah so happy and waiting for the show to start.

Belle and the Beast dancing

This part was so cool - it started off as Small World and then turned into the Electrical Parade. It was so pretty.

Mikayla and Delilah watching the finale of the show. They loved it! Mikayla talked the entired time because she was overexcited. Delilah was quiet just taking it all in. Caitlin was dancing, especially to the genie from Aladdin, but then started getting tired and didn't want to go to sleep. Overall, it was a blast and we LOVED it!!

Preschool Dress Up Day

Today was Dress Up day at preschool. The girls were dressed up as cowgirls, although Mikayla was very upset as she thought boys would think she is a boy since she wasn't wearing a princess outfit. Delilah loved being a cowgirl.

A Sunday Full of Fun!

This morning was full of piano playing, tagging, and singing... all before early church service. The girls woke up at an early 7 am and were ready to start moving. As you see below, the girls are playing the piano and Caitlin is trying to join in. Of course, after church and lunch, the girls had more fun in store!!

Delilah and Mikayla ready to go to the ball (well, actually to a trunk-or-treat)
We were supposed to go with some friends of ours and they canceled at the last minute. The girls were sad so we just called some other friends (that we tried to get to go but wouldn't because of the adult's schedule) so we invited their children. The car was full of laughter and silly talk from 4 girls and a baby. The trunk-or-treat was crowded and CRAZY but the girls had a blast. Below Jasmyn (Ariel), Delilah (Tinkerbell), Jordyn (Jasmine), and Mikayla (Snow White).

Haunted Houses

Today the girls each got to make their OWN haunted house. Mommy helped with nothing except for the making of the icing for them to decorate. Of course, some was eaten as it was being put on the houses!!

While Mikayla and Delilah were making houses, Caitlin was playing with hers.

Nana and Papa's October Visit

Nana and Papa came up this weekend to spend time with their grandchildren (and for Papa to go fishing).  Papa and Daddy woke up early Saturday morning and headed off to the fishing pond.  Mommy took Delilah and Mikayla to the Mother of Multiples Halloween social.  They had a blast but Mommy couldn't take pictures there since she forgot to charge the camera's battery.  However, she grabbed a few shots of the girls before walking out the door.  Nana stayed home with Caitlin and enjoyed a quiet household for a few hours.

Delilah - the cowgirl

Mikayla - Belle (however, this was her only time since the dress tripped her constantly - mommy even put a rubberband on the back to bunch it up... maybe double-sided tape will work on hemming it)

The Week At Preschool

On Wednesday, it was ORANGE day at preschool so all three girls, even Caitlin, wore orange that day. On Friday, it was picture day. Just so no one gets excited, we did NOT order pictures. The picture packages were over-priced but we did get the class picture so when we get that back, we will put it on the website. But below is our picture of our girls on Picture Day.

Apple Pie Making

Today we went up to Apple Hill with our friends Ms Cindy, Jasmyn, and Jordyn. The girls got to make their own apple pies and cookies. After that we headed to another orchard to eat lunch and climb trees. Caitlin was completely pooped out by the time we got in the car she was knocked out in one minute. All of us girls enjoyed our time together.

Just another weekend

Friday night, our friends came over and joined us for dinner and playtime. On Saturday, we went around delivering apple pies that mommy made for some of our friends and Daddy's friends.

Pumpkin Farm Field Trip

Today was the annual field trip to the local pumpkin patch for the girls preschool.  They enjoyed the hayride, petting and feeding the farm animals, the slides and, of course, picking out their pumpkin.  The corn maze wasn't as thrilling to them this year since they went in a 43 acre one just a few days ago.  :-)

Guinness Book of World Records - CORN MAZE

On Saturday, after the rain from the night before dried up, we headed out to Dixon (which if anyone knows is nothing but farm land and the little city between Davis and Vacaville). Dixon is home of a 43 acre Corn Maze that last year made the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest corn maze. So with our three lil' pumpkins, we headed out to tackle this maze.

It took us one hour and 10 minutes to get through the maze.  Not too bad.  Oh - and they don't recommend strollers because of all the bumps due to the corn rows... so Caitlin was in Daddy's arms when Mommy was navigating (3/4 of the time) and in Mommy's arms when Daddy was navigating (the other 1/4 - and that was by peer pressure as Daddy didn't want to navigate).  The girls loved it!  They loved picking up corn on the ground... they loved all the twists and the turns.  However, one time two kids ran by and scared the girls.  Another time was priceless... the girls usually were walking behind mommy (the navigator) and in front of daddy (the rounder-upper) but for some reason they decided to walk in front of mommy one time.  Well, mommy turned right and the girls kept going straight.  Mikayla saw mommy turn so she followed but Delilah was in her own world.  Daddy just stopped at the middle of the fork so he could see mommy, Mikayla and Delilah.  Finally he called Delilah's name, she turned around and didn't see Mikayla or mommy and all you hear is a loud scream "MOMMY!!!" and crying.  Finally she caught up and learned the hard lesson like Mikayla learned earlier this year.

After the maze, we went and looked at pumpkins, scarecrows and the girls climbed the hay stack.  The girls want to go back with flashlights at night time but we won't be doing that - too many older kids were already coming in at dusk.

The start of the corn maze... do you even see an end?

Some corn that the girls picked up (and we took some home to cook)
